We are enhancing our PIM (product information management) system to accommodate two new item data requirements for any new items loaded to PIM.
Dangerous goods:
We will now include verification by vendors on whether the items being added to the PIM system are considered to be Dangerous Goods (DG).
If so, further details on DG classification will be required, such as the DG category and Class as well as SDS (Safety Data Sheet).
US eligibility:
Any items that may be considered by our merchants for allocation to our U.S. based store (US eligible) will be subject to further scrutiny by USA customs and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards.
Our PIM system does require input from vendors to determine if a product is suitable for allocation and distribution to the USA. Any items identified as US eligible will now require further input from vendors specific to the requirements of each product type in order to be eligible for distribution to US based retail locations. A few examples of these US Customs & US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) requirements are as follows:
- Items Manufactured in China: vendor will be required to provide Manufacture Identification details (full name and address), as required by US Customs.
- Items considered as Art Supplies: vendor will be required to provide a LHAMA (List of Hazardous Art Materials Act) certification document, as required by US Customs.
- Items intended to come in contact with food: vendor will be required to provide an FDA certification document, as required by US Customs.
- Items containing wood or plant based materials: vendor will be required to provide a Lacey declaration, as required by US Customs.
- Items intended for use by children under the age of 12: vendor will be required to provide product specific testing and lab certificates as required by the US CPSC.
- Items considered as sleepwear intended for children under the age of 12: vendor will be required to provide product specific testing and lab certificates as well as sleepwear and tracking labels as required by the US CPSC.
- Items that are considered medical devices: vendor will be required to provide product specific testing and lab certificates as required by the US CPSC.
- Items that are considered skin care products (i.e., cleansers, moisturizer, sunscreen, nail polish, anything intended for use on skin): vendor will be required to provide product specific testing and lab certificates as required by the US CPSC
