French Translation Requirements
Vendors are expected to provide complete and quality French product names and descriptions for all articles sold on indigo.ca.
If vendors are unable to provide French content, Indigo will complete the translation for the respective vendors and will charge the total fee of the translation service (charged by the 3rd party translation service provider) plus the chargeback fee (per UPC) for Missing Item Description (French).
To further clarify what we consider proper French and to comply with our naming structure, please see the Scoring Table and the attached Writing Guide for French Product Descriptions.
Translation Scoring Table
Note: As a Canadian company, Indigo is required to provide both English and French descriptions to our customers. We cannot publish products if they do not have English and French content available on indigo.ca.
Bilingual Packaging and Labelling Requirements
All consumer packaging and labelling must be bilingual (English and French) and in compliance with Canada's Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act and Quebec's Charter of French Language. All information on the product, on its container or on its packaging, on a document (e.g., instruction manual) or object supplied with it must be in French and English. No inscription may be given greater prominence than that in French. Non-compliance can lead to stop sales, product withdrawal, fines from the province of Quebec and possible Indigo chargeback to all non-compliant vendors
